what is the poem about?
a kamikaze pilot sets off on a suicide mission, however he turns back - when he’s home everyone - even his family - act as if he isn’t there
what quote suggests the pilot was under some kind of spell?
“full of powerful incantations” - told it was a great honour to die for your country

“at little fishing boats” - the pilot is aiming for the complete opposite - big enemy ships

the flight has come to an end - should of ended in death but doesn’t which is why the poem carries on

“they treated him as though he no longer existed” - irony because he survived but treating him as if he’s dead
