The ability of human populations to access food of sufficient quality and quantity
Why is there a concern for food security
Creates an increase in the global human population

Guaranteed over a long period of time

It must be sustainable and not degrease the natural resources on which agriculture depends on
Where does human food come from
Small number of plant crops
- cereals, potatoes, roots and legumes
What is food production depend on
Agriculture is dependant on factors which control photosynthesis and plant growth
What is the solution to the area being to limited to grow crops
Replace existing crop plants with higher yielding cultivars
What is the solution to a shortage of mineral elements or water
Increase supply of fertiliser or use a sprinkler system
What is the solution of pests eg insects, fungi
Use insecticides and fungicide
What is the solution of completion from weeds
Use herbicides
