What is Distemper?
A contagious & serious disease caused by a virus that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems of puppies & dogs
How is Distemper transmitted?
Airborne exposure through sneezing and coughing from an infected dog & wild animal
Shared food & water bowls & equipment
Pregnant mothers can pass the virus through the placenta to their puppies
What is Adenovirus Type 2?
Related to the hepatitis virus CAV-1
Why is CAV-2 ( Adenovirus Type 2) used in vaccines?
To provide protection against canine infectious hepatitis

How is Adenovirus Type 2 transmitted?
DIRECTLY from dog to dog through infected respiratory secretions
OR
Contaminated feces or urine
What are the symptoms of CAV-2 ( canine adenovirus type 2) ?
(CAV-2)
Dry coughing
Retching
Sneezing
Watery nasal discharge
Pneumonia
Inappetence
Fever
Lethargy in severe cases
(CAV-1)
Fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea
What’s parainfluenza?
A highly contagious respiratory virus
How is Parainfluenza transmitted?
Airborne
Spreads rapidly in kennels or shelters where large numbers of dogs are kept
What are the symptoms of Parainfluenza?
Coughing (dry or moist), low-grade fever, nasal discharge, lack of energy, loss of appetite
What is Parvo?
A highly contagious virus that can affect all dogs
Unvaccinated dogs and puppies younger than 4 months old are the most at risk
