What is a risk factor?
A
events occuring earlier that predict a later outcome (delinquency) = Causal relationship

What are biological factors?
A
Can be hereditary due to damage prenatally
Executive functions - different structures in prefrontal cortex related to juvenile delinquency
Physiology - low heart rate - delinquent children’s heart rate doesn’t change i.e. no fear = more likely to commit crime

What are behavioural factors?
A
Low intelligence and cognitive impairment
Difficult temperament
Hyperactivity, impulsivity and low self-control
Early aggression

A
Psychopathology and antisocial behaviour parents Personality parents Poor supervision Inadequate parenting Inconsistent / harsh discipline Low income / SES Conflict / abuse / neglect
