- as container emties card signifies need for refill

Material is taken from storage, delivering department is authorized to refill the intentionally small storage
What is just in time (JIT)?
Refilling stocks just before they are about to run out
What are the advantages of JIT?
- allows lower stocking levels
- improves relationship with resellers
What are the major disadvantages of JIT?
- multiple sourcing is difficult
- only works well if demand fluctuates very little
