What is Judicial neutrality?
A
Requires judges to be free from political or any other bias

Is there a lack of neutrality?
A
The main argument is that Judges are from a very narrow social background (Middle/upper middle-class). This makes it more likely they will have a conservative outlook

Arguments for Judicial neutrality no longer exists
A
Very narrow social, economic and professional background, mostly male
Tend to come from social backgrounds with a bias against certain groups - women, homosexuals and trade unionists
Many supreme court judges formerly sat in the house of Lords, which is seen as incredibly conservative
Supreme court only has one female judge
