What are the two different types of jews?
orthodox - believe torah is the literal word of god
liberal/reform - believe torah is the inspired word of god and should be interpreted
What 3 things do jews believe god is?
Creator - There is one God therefore no other took part in creation. Genesis explains how God created everything
Lawgiver - God gives the Torah – The Law – to Moses. They are children of God, God is the Father. Both Father and king link to being a lawgiver
Judge - Judaism can be seen as a religion of strict law. God’s justice and mercy are balanced
What is shekhinah and how is it achieved?
God’s presence in the world

the deal made by G-d and Moses while the Jews were wandering in the desert
G-d gave Moses the 10 commandments and 603 other Laws to live by that form the basis of HALAKHAH – the holy law of Judaism – so 613 commands in all
By obeying these rules Jews believe they are doing what God wants and therefore have a close relationship with him

God and Abraham entered into a covenant that promised many descendants, a Promised Land, and a blessed nation.

Most Jewish laws can be broken in order to save a persons life in life-threatening circumstances. This is called Pikuach Nefesh.
