Judaism Flashcards

1
Q

Originated in the Middle East specifically in the region known as Canaan, which is present-day Israel and Palestine.
Judaism began around 1800 bce with the patriarch Abraham, although its roots can be traced back even further to ancient Semitic religions.
Judaism evolved from the beliefs and practices of the ancient Israelites, who were influenced by the surrounding cultures and religions. It became distinct with the covenant between Abraham and God, and later with the laws given to Moses.
