What is another name for PROGRESSIVE Jews?
Reform Jews ( not reformed Jews) or Liberial Jews.

List the main groups in order
Orthodox, Progressive (reform) and Conservative.
Orthodox Jews
Believe that the Torah was litteraly given by God to Moses, word for word.
- Men and women sit separately
- Hewbrew language is used in all services
- Women do not lead services
Sabbath day is kept srictly as a day of rest
- Kosher rules for food are followed throughout the week
- Do not allow cremation
Progressive
-Believe that judiasim should adapt over time to sit changing circumstances
- Teaches that God guides and judges each person and that what is right for one person may not be right for another.
- Men & Women sit together
- Services are conducted in the language of the worhsippers.
- Women are allowed to be Rabbis
- Allow cremation
Conservative Jews
Respect many laws e.g. kosher and shabbat
- Agree wth refomists (progressive jews) that the halacha needs to be reconsidered in each age.
- Traditionally more Orthodoc than Progressive.
What is the Halacha?
Jewish Law
