jsp encore Flashcards
Cite a wide known loop from which the Cb is part of
The Cerebello-Thalamocortical loop
Cite the three mains structures that carry the motor command and sensory motor context to Cbar networks.
Inferior Olive - Premotor structures and Sensory structures
To what kind of dysfuctions lead cerebellar injuries ?
Motor and non motor pathologies, dysmetria, ataxias, dystonias, tremors, certain forms of autisms and schizophrenia
What’s dysmetria
Exageration of the amplitude of a mvt
What’s dystonia ?
Dystonia is a neurological hyperkinetic movement disorder in which sustained or repetitive muscle contractions occur involuntarily, resulting in twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal fixed postures
What’s ataxia ?
A neurological disease that causes myscoordination of mvt and lack of gait
In a nutshell, what are Purkinje cells ?
Inhibitory neurons that are the sole output of the cerebellar cortex, project to cerebellar nuclei.
What are the two main extracerebellar input to the Cb ?
Mossy Fibers and Climbing Fibers, both excitatory neurons
What are MFs carrying ?
The sensorimotor information from the whole body
What are CFs carrying ?
The learning signal from the inf. olive.
What does “the forward model” refers to when talking about the Cb ?
The calculation of the expected sensorimotor state following a motor command made by the Cb
What’s the overall objective of Cerecode ?
Determine the processing rules and network dynamics at the output stage of the CB and how they contribute to precise motor coordination.
Explain briefly what’s the purpose of the 2WP in the Cerecode project
Describe the dynamics of neural populations in the CNs in vivo and explain how they encore different motor tasks.
Explain briefly what’s the purpose of the 1WP in the Cerecode project ?
Understand how MFs and CFs inputs are functionnally organized in the CN and how they control neurone activity : do they define subnetwork or target specific subtypes of neurons ?
Explain briefly what’s the purpose of the 3WP in the Cerecode project ?
Understand the specific role of extracerebellar inputs during a behavioral task via their perturbation.
