This particle is used to indicate the direct object of a transitive verb
を
Ex: I drink juice. = Jūsu o nomimasu
Noun (O) Transitive Verb
Since Nan and Nani both mean what, when is Nan used?
- When it precedes a word whose first mora is either in
the ta, da, or na-row.
(When the word after it is the T, D, N letter group)
Ex:
What is this? = Kore wa nan desu ka
What is the book about? = Nan no hon desu ka. - When it is followed by a counter suffix or the like
Ex: Nansai, Nangai, Nanpun, Nanji, etc.
Apart from indicating means of transportation, what does the Particle De do?
Indicates where an action occurs
Ex:
I buy the newspaper at the station.
Eki de Shinbun o kaimasu
This expression is used when a speaker is positively inviting
the listener to do something with the speaker. It is also
used when responding positively to an invitation.
Verb + Mashou
Ex:
Let’s have a break.
Chotto yasumimashou
When you want to invite someone to do something,
this expression is used.
Verb + Masen ka
Ex: Won’t you come to Kyoto with us?
Issho ni Kyouto e ikimasen ka.
