Michal says this to King David after he brings the tabernacle into the city of David & throws a party for the whole city. David never sleeps with her again.

*Able to work miracles. He prays to God for more daylight when fighting the Amorites, the sun stops mid day.

Prophecy of Ahijah to Jeroboam that he will take ten of the tribes from Shlomo’s kingdom to his own in the North

Joshua asking an angel - are you friend or foe? In modern day Israel, this phrase means “who’s side are you on?”

2 mothers arguing before King Solomon. One mother says don’t kill the child, the other mother says “it won’t be mine and it won’t be yours. Cut him!”
וּמַקָּבוֹת וְהַגַּרְזֶן כָּל-כְּלִי בַרְזֶל, לֹא-נִשְׁמַע בַּבַּיִת בְּהִבָּנֹתוֹ.

Joshuah at the Jordan River
Joshuah 3. Before the battle of Jericho, Israel spent the night camped along the Jordan river. The next day, twelve priests carry the ark infront of Bnai Israel into battle. Joshua tells them (and then it happens) that as soon as their feet hits the Jordan, the Jordan’s river waters pile up in a heap and Israel is able to cross the Jordan on dry land. The priests stand in the middle of the Jordan with the ark until everyone crosses.
אֲנִי הֹלֵךְ אֵלָיו, וְהוּא לֹא-יָשׁוּב אֵלָי.
David mourning the death of his & Bathsheva’s baby.

King Ahab calls Elijah the “trouble of Israel”
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִד אֶל-גָּד, צַר-לִי מְאֹד; נִפְּלָה-נָּא בְיַד-ה’’ כִּי-רַבִּים רַחֲמָו, וּבְיַד-אָדָם אַל-אֶפֹּלָה.
David sins by counting the people of Israel. He repents. Gad comes and tells David that he should choose between three punishments: A seven year famine in the land, hiding from his enemies for three months, or three days of pestilence in the land. David responds with this line - asking God to decide the punishment.
שֶׁמֶשׁ בְּגִבְעוֹן דּוֹם, וְיָרֵחַ, בְּעֵמֶק אַיָּלוֹן.
Joshua says this so Israel would have more sunlight to do battle.
בּוֹאִי שִׁכְבִי עִמִּי אֲחוֹתִי.
David’s son Amnon raping Tamar, his half sister.

Former husband of Bathshevah. A Hittite. David sends him into battle & he is killed.

Son of David after Absolom. Boasts that he will be king. he asks Solomon to marry אבישג השונמית. Solomon interprets this as meaning that he wants to be king, and kills him.
רָאִיתִי אֶת-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל נְפֹצִים אֶל-הֶהָרִים, כַּצֹּאן, אֲשֶׁר אֵין-לָהֶם רֹעֶה
Micaiah’s prophecy to King Ahab that, even with the help of Jehosaphat of Judah, they will be defeated in the war against Aram. “I saw all of Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd.”
Mt Carmel
Site of the epic “prophet ogg” between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. The prophets of Baal can’t get their sacrifice to be “accepted” (go up in fire), and Elijiah’s is even after he had the altar soaked in water. After this, the people revolt and slaughter the prophets of Baal
הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלוּךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
Jeroboam says this to the people of the Northern Kingdom after he sets up the altars with the Golden calves in Beth El and Dan. “Behold thy gods…”
Izevel
(Jezebel) Daughter of the King of Tyre. She is the wife of Ahab and prosecutes the prophets of the God of Israel while promoting the worship of Baal

Prophecy after Jeroboam builds the northern altars, in Beth El and Dan, that they will be destroyed

The circumcision of Israel was necessary after the incident with the spies, the next 40 years saw
all of the men finally die off, and apparently no circumcision was carried out in the desert during
that time. Israel was finally circumcised in preparation for the battle of Jericho.

prophet who doesn’t listen to God and accepts food and drink. Heis punished with death but his carcass is not eaten. “and the ass and the lion standing by the carcass, the lion had not eaten the carcass nor torn the ass.”

Sons of Abinadab who try to guide the ark from their house to the City of David. Uzziah fumbles the ark & is killed on the spot.

Solomon’s prayer to God. He asks for wisdom.
Zimri
Commander to King Elah (son of Baasha). Kills king Elah and all the house of Baasha according to the prophecy of Yehu. He becomes king until he is killed by Omri.
עַד-מָתַי אַתֶּם פֹּסְחִים עַל-שְׁתֵּי הַסְּעִפִּים
Elijah chastises the people to pick a side, are they for God or Baal. “How long will you wait between two opinions?”
עֲשֵׂה לְךָ, חַרְבוֹת צֻרִים; וְשׁוּב מֹל אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, שֵׁנִית.
Haftorah read on the first day of Pesach. God commanding Joshua to perform circumcision in the land.

Site of the Covenant ceremony. Also where Joshua died. He gave final
instructions and the words of God to the people. Wrote it in a book of instruction. set up a stone
as a witness.

David talking to the sons of Zeruiah. The sons say to kill Shimei ben Gera because he is insulting David. David responds “whats it to you?”

King Jeroboam, first king of the northern kingdom, establishes an immitation Sukkot. The immitation Sukkot starts on Heshvan 15, one month after the real Sukkot.

The first time David sees Bath Shevah.

Stronghold of Zion. Later becomes the city of David.
The stones at Gilgal
Joshuah 4:12. Stones at the feet of the priests. One person from every tribe picks up a stone and brings it back to their tribe as a testmant to how wonderful God is. That night, Israel camps at Gilgal, the Eastern border of Jericho. Joshuah takes the stones and sets up a monument. He says the stones represent the crossing of the Jordan, he invokes the crossing of the red sea.

Elijah after he runs into the desert because he is angry that the people will not follow God. “…the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets…”

Joab, commander of David’s army warning Ahimaaz. He says Ahimaaz should not be the one who tells David that David’s son Absolom was killed.

The Transjordanian altar
In the land of Gilead east of the Jordan the Reubenites, Gadites,
and half-tribe of Manasseh built an altar. The rest of Israel heard about it and set out to make
war against them. Pinchas son of Eleazar went to talk to them. But, they did not build the altar
to offer sacrifices or burnt offerings. It was built as a witness that although the Jordan separates
them, they are a part of Israel and that they will perform the service of the Lord at Shilo. And
they named the altar “witness.”

The Angel’s response to Joshua. “I am God’s officer”. Joshuah bows to the ground before him
