Costotransverse joint.
Type and ligaments
Synovial type, plane joint. Capsular ligament, Superior costotransverse, Inferior costotransverse, Lateral transverse
Enumerate joints Of thorax
Costovertebral Costotransverse Costochondral Sternocostal Interchondral Manubriosternal Intervertebral (b/w bodies of vertebrae and b/w articular processes of vertebrae)
Primary cartilaginous joints
Costochondral
First sternocostal
Secondary cartilaginous joints
Manubriosternal
B/w bodies of vertebrae
Why Costal cartilage Of 1st rib forms an atypical primary cartilaginous joint?
The costal cartilage of 1st rib is United with manubrium sterni by a plate of fibrocartilage and hence is not a typical primary cartilaginous joint (synchondrosis)
Why is the Manubriosternal joint an atypical secondary cartilaginous joint
It’s not a typical symphysis as bones taking part in symphysis formation don’t undergo bony union but after 30, in most ppl bony union at Manubriosternal joint takes place.
Movements seen in the intervertebral joints
