Where 2 bones meet to allow movement
Where are the joints that don’t allow movement?
Joints in your cranium. They are where 2 bones have been fused but they’re technically joints.
What are tendons
A connective tissue that join muscle and bone
What are ligaments?
A connective tissue that join bone to bone
What are tendons and ligaments made of?
stretchy fibres called collagen (a structural protein)
Name 3 types of joints
- Ball and socket joints
- Hinge joints
- Pivot joints
What movement do ball and socket joints allow?
Forward, backward and circular movement
What movement do hinge joints allow?
Opening and closing movement (similar to a door.)
what movement do pivot joints allow?
rotational movement around an axis.
Give an example of a ball and socket joint
The hip joint. (joins pelvis and femur)
Give an example of a hinge joint
The elbow joint. (Joins humerus to radius & Ulna)
Give an example of a pivot joint
The neck joint. (Joins cranium and neck)
