what pathology? prognosis?
form of arthritis that produces pain swelling redness and heat in the joints
- asymmetric affects joints of the spine, Sacroiliac joints, large joints in legs
- prognosis normal life span
-pop 20-40yr old, white men 5x more than women
- onset following inflammation of the intestinal or urinary tract
- symptoms: joint swelling, urethritis inflamed urethra, sores on the soft palate or back of their throat, sores on genitals, conjunctivitis under eye lids

reiter syndrome

  • Most people have periodic attacks of arthritis that last from 3-6 months. general pattern and severity tend to be similar to previous attacks with a small number of joints–often different joints–involved each time.
  • after 2nd attack, likely to have permanent arthritis
  • does not lead to permanent joint damage or disability.
