Joints Flashcards
What kind of joint is the intervertebral joint?
Symphysis (secondary cartilaginous)
What kind of joint is the costotransverse joint?
Synovial
What kind of joint is the costovertebral joint?
Synovial
What kind of joint is the sternocostal joint?
1st sternocostal is primary cartilaginous, the others are synovial plane joints
What kind of joint is the sternoclavicular joint?
Synovial
What kind of joint is the costochondral joint?
Synovial
What kind of joint is the interchondral joint?
Synovial
What are the actions, attachments, and innervation of the pectoralis major?
. Adduction and medial rotation of upper limb, draws scapula anteroinferiorly against thoracic wall, clavicular head flexes upper limb
. Clavicular head originates from medial half of clavicle, sternocostal head originates from anterior part of sternum and superior 6 costal cartilages- Both heads inserts into intertubercular sulcus of humerus
.Innervated by medial and lateral pectoral nerve
What are the actions, attachments, and innervation of pectoralis minor?
. Draws scapula anteroinferiorly against thoracic wall
. Originates from ribs 3-5, inserts into coracoid process of scapula
. Innervated by medial pectoral nerve
What is the action and innervation of serratus anterior?
. Rotation of scapula to allow arm to be raised above 90 degrees, pulls scapula against thoracic wall
. Innervated by long thoracic nerve
Describe the continuations of the subclavian artery
. Subclavian artery becomes axillary artery after lateral border of first rib
. Axillary artery becomes brachial artery at inferior border of teres major
. Brachial artery bifurcates to ulnar and radial arteries in forearm
. Ulnar and radial arteries anastomose to form superficial and deep palmar arches, which give rise to common digital arteries
