when should you have a certified JTAC

- need to have a certified JTAC if you expect a need to conduct “terminal attack control”
- increased risk fo fratiide when using a non-qualified JTAC but you can - the commander will assume full control for
JTAC isn’t available
if you need to conduct a “terminal attack control”, you can (CO will assume full control) but you will have an increased risk of fraticide when using non-qualified JTAC

CAS Type 1 criteria
JTAC must be able to see both the attacking aircraft and the garget under attack
JTAC must be able to see botht eh attacking aircraft and the target under attack
CAS Type 1
when is CAS Type 1 control a good option
best control to ensure mission success and decreased fraticide risk
- language barrier w/aircraft
- lack of confidence in the platform
- decreased confidence in JTAC &/or air crew
- adverse weather

problem of CAS Type 1 Control
- JTAC must be able to see the target & aircraft during the attack
- doesn’t capitalizeon all available available battlefield aspects and limits CAS tactics bc/c must be able to see
