Q

Consecrated

A

(of a church or land) having been made or declared sacred.

After being threatened with being removed from his position at the head of the New York branch of The Continental, its venerable owner Winston (Ian McShane) reaches a compromise with The Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon) of The High Table. The deal is simple, but effective: if he kills John Wick, he’s allowed to keep his position and the hotel will be re-consecrated as a safe haven for anyone in their world to claim as sanctuary.

Q

fealty

A

a feudal tenant’s or vassal’s sworn loyalty to a lord.
“they owed fealty to the Earl rather than the King”
formal acknowledgment of loyalty to a lord.
“a property for which she did fealty”

High Table membership doesn’t come easily, but it’s desirable, the kind of prestige worth killing for; nor is it held onto easily, coming with the expectation of utmost fealty to the Table’s cause. Rather than dues, the High Table requires ruthlessness from its representatives, notably the Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon), sent by the High Table to clean up the mess left in John’s wake post-Chapter 2 and hold him accountable for constitutional crimes.
