What job do you have
WORK - Both flat hands at right angles - one above the other. Bottom edge of primary hand taps top edge of secondary hand.
YOU - Index finger points at person you are referring to.
WHAT? - Index finger extended and held vertically with palm forward - makes small repeated side to side movements (with questioning expression)
Boss
Both hands, with index fingers extended, held by side of head. Start with index fingers facing forward then twist so that they point upwards
Builder
Flat hands move alternately on top of each other while moving upwards
Bus Driver
Closed fists held about shoulder width apart make a steering motion
Doctor
Extended index and middle finger of primary hand tap top of secondary wrist (primary thumb underneath secondary wrist)
Nurse
Thumb of primary hand traces cross on shoulder of secondary arm
Mechanic
Both clawed hands, with palms facing signer, twist down into each other in front of body
Police Officer
Tips of extended index and middle finger (“V” shape) of primary hand pulls across the back of the wrist of secondary hand
Priest/Vicar
PRIEST - Index finger and thumb of primary hand makes a “C” shape. Hand moves across neck from secondary side to primary side
Shop assistant
SHOP - Both bent hands make short downward movements in front of body.
ASSISTANT - Closed primary hand with thumb extended rests on top of upturned palm of secondary hand
Social worker
Fingertips of both “C” shape hands move down side of body
Taxi driver
TAXI - Middle finger of primary hand flicks against thumb twice (at head height).
DRIVER - Both closed hands move in steering motion in front of body
Teacher
Extended index fingers of both hands start in front of mouth then move away from signer and twist out to point forwards
Teaching assistant
TEACHER - Extended index fingers of both hands start in front of mouth then move away from signer and twist out to point forwards.
ASSISTANT - Closed primary hand with thumb extended rests on top of upturned palm of secondary hand
