PA

Runner
- literally runs for everything
- fulfills variety of chores
- from being a messenger to buying various items and/or food
Production Accountant
- takes care of money throughout the shoot
- arranges payments, expenses, petty cash, etc.
- keeps an eye on how the shoot is doing with budget
Location Manager
- organizes location scouting and everything related with shooting on locations
- gets permission/permits, hotel bookings, bathrooms, rental cars, notifying police
Director
- creative decision maker throughout the film making process
- directs crew from pre- to post production
- transforming screenplay into finished film for Producer
Second Unit Director
- aids Director shooting different shots, what needs to be shot and how to shoot it
- establishing shots, cutaways, insert shots, etc.
2nd AD (Assistant Director)
- backup to the 1st AD
- preparing “call sheet”
- overseeing cast, ensures actors are in makeup, wardrobe, standing by on set when needed
3rd AD
- assists the 2nd AD
- acts as a runner
Casting Director
- finding the cast
- works close with Producer and Director
- has good knowledge of agents and their clients due to building up good relationships with them
Continuity
- records details of shoot
- costume, props, blocking to make sure shots match during varied takes and all shots are completed
Storyboard Artist
-creates detailed story boards of shots as requested by Director
Director of Photography/Cinematography
-head of the camera team and works with Director to establish visual style of movie
1st Camera Assistant/ Focus Puller
-loads film, keeps image sharp, changes lenses, sets exposure, etc.
2nd Camera Assistant/ Clapper Loader
- loads film into magazines, changing or charging batteries, changing lenses
- fills out camera reports, orders correct amount and type of film stock
Grip/Key

- operating dollies, laying down tracks for cameras to move (all heavy work)
- they design and construct special rigs and camera mounts
- dolly grips handle moving camera on a dolly along a track
Gaffer
- electrician in change of equipment and connection to power supply for production

- works closely with DP (Director of Photography)
Best Boy
-1st assistant to Gaffer
Electrician
- moves and maintains lights
- organizes power from generator
Production Sound Mixer
-records production sound, wild tracks, and sound of atmosphere of place
Boom Operator
- works with Production Sound Manager
- holding boom mics, or arranging other mica for a particular scene
- also take care of sound recording sheets which will be used during editing
Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists
- breaks down the script for special features (bruises, wounds, shaved heads, etc.)
- take care of hiring wigs, special effects and prosthetics
- also keep notes
Costume Designer
- breaks down the script working out costume changes according to story days
- meet with actors to discuss requirements
- they must shop, hire, or make the costumes
Dresser Assistant
- sets up a working wardrobe
- arrives before actors to set up costumes, supervises their dressing, etc.
Production Designer
- works with Director and DP on visual style of movie
- responsible for for sets (either in the sound stage or on location)
- ensures the “look” of the set and props are as desired
Art Director
- oversees ideas of Production Designer
- arranges furnishings, collaborates with construction manager &a art department
Set Designer
- responsible for selection of props and supervises dressing of sets
- prepares prop lists
- works close with Prop Buyer in organizing the dressing of sets
- also makes notes continually
Leadman
- answers to set designer
- head of the “swing gang” (people who set up and take down the sets) and head of dressing dept.
Prop Master
- places and removes furniture and props on set
- looks after all props during shoot
Prop Buyer
- finds appropriate props from special sources
- purchases, hires, and and maintains a record of art dept. budget
- organizes collections and returns hired props
Prop Maker
-designing, building &a operating any props
Construction Manager
- builds sets within art dept. budget
- organizes material and extra crew in necessary
- schedules building and striking of sets with Production Designer
Painters/Scenic

-work with Construction Manager building and striking sets
Stills Photographer
-shoots production stills for use in press kits, publicity and advertisements
Unit Publisist
- works with Stills Photographer
- making sure the “right” photos are taken to publicize film
EPK Producer
- shoots documentary of the making of the film for publicity purposes and for DVD release of film
- interviews the major creativity behind the film (including actors, directors, screenwriters, producers)
Drivers
-ferrying crew, cast, equipment
Stunt Coordinator
- oversees plans for all stunts and action throughout film
- coordinates with stunt devils and Special Effects Coordinator
Special Effects Coordinator
- oversees plans of special effects throughout the film
- atmospherics (rain, wind, smoke, fires, explosions, etc.)
Greensman
-Oversees greenery required in a film (plants, flowers)
Post Production Supervisor
- coordinating with Producer, Editor, Supervising Sound Editor, Facilities Companies, Production Accountant
- make sure the films post production budget is on target and all deadlines are met
Editor
- craft the finished film working long hours to perfect it
- make sure the story flows effortlessly from beginning to end
Assistant Editor
- helps Editor with preparing picture and sound, synchronizing footage if necessary
- maintaining good files and records and storage of all movie elements
Sound Editor
- assembles production tracks, effects, music, record extra effects, etc.
- ensures all location atmosphere settings are covered with wild tracks
- takes film to final mix with Editor and Director
- here’s and should approve final soundtrack
Negative Cutter
-cuts the negatives and matches it back to the workprint, so that prints can be made from the negatives
Foley Artist
-creates footsteps, sounds effects, clothes rustle, etc… that match the cut movie filling emoty scenes
Composer/Musician/Music Copyist
- hired for original score of the film
- composes music according to Directors wishes
Music Supervisor
-hires musicians, locates and clears required additional music tracks
