What is motivation?
The processes that account for an individuals intensity, direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining organizational goals
What are the 3 key elements of motivation?
Intensity: the amount of effort put forth to meet the goal
Direction: Efforts are channeled toward organizational goals
Persistence: How long the effort is maintained
Define intrinsic motivation
Motivation that stems from the direct relationship between the worker and the task itself
Define Extrinsic Motivation
Motivation that comes from the work environment external to the task(ex. bonuses)
