set prayers vs informal prayers
Set Prayers stop prayer being self centered, gives belonging to a community ,order and purpose to persons life , set prayers used throughout history
Informal/own worded prayer helps contact God when they want , express own feelings instead of others , ask for Gods help
Importance of Brit milah
Follows Gods covenant with Abraham - 8 day circumcision , brings Jewish boys into Jewish community but halakah says if born of a Jew you are a jew
Some Liberal jews have brit bat but orthodox jews just have a naming ceremony
Importance of bar mitzvah
When a boy becomes adult in jewish community at 13 can read from torah in synagogue and be part of minyang .
Orthodox jews have bat mitzvah for girls at 12 , liberal Jews have it at 13 and is same as Orthodox
Give events in jewish marriages
Marriage happens under a huppah - symbol of their new home
Ketubah - promises to his wife to provide for her and what happens in her death or divorce , liberals allow marriage with non jews but orthodox dont

Avelut - period of mourning containing Shiva - extreme mourning , low chairs no mirrors no music

What is the talmud and why is it important
Oral torah and written torah together to make up the halakah and this shows how the jewish laws was to be obeyed , and shows how to apply it in daily life
Why is kashrut important for Jews
being Kosher , Pigs , camels and shellfish not allowed , animals slaughtered in humane way , meat and dairy seperated
This is important because gives a sense of jewish identity , following Gods rules and helps think of God everytime they eat
What do liberals think of moses mitzvot
they dont believe its the word of God
