a day remembering the holocaust
Simchat Torah
the conclusion of the annual cycle of Torah readings
Brit/Bris Milan
eight days after a boy is born; circumcision is performed, via a mohel/doctor initiating the baby
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Son/Daughter of the Commandment participated by 13 y/o boys and 12 y/o girls symbolizes children becoming adults
Marriage
marriage contract –> husband must treat his wife respectfully
Death
the body is placed in the ground asap; children say the Kaddish [said ever morning and evening for 11 months] when their parents die, neighbours bring food so the family can mourn, mirrors are covered, shaving is not allowed, garments with a tear are worn
