Tenakh and Torah are both names for the Jewish bible. Tenakh stands for Torah (“Teaching”, also known as the Five Books of Moses), Nevi’im (“Prophets”) and Ketuvim (“Writings”
Shabbat
The 7th day of the Jewish week where you are not allowed to work, it is the day god rested when creating the earth.
Mitzvot
Mitzvots are Jewish commandments of which there are 613 of them, Jews are supposed to abide by these laws.
Shekhinah
Shekhinah is the presence of god on earth or his manifestation.
Rabbi
The Jewish religious leaders, most Jews go to rabbis for advice.
Messiah
A descended of the Davidic line who is supposed to be the Jewish chosen one who will bring about a messianic age.
Messianic age
A age of peace and prosperity.
Monotheism
Belief in one god.
Talmud
The Jewish book on law, it is where the mitzvots are derived from.
Pikuach nefesh
The belief that life is the most important thing next to god himself. The idea that saving a life should come in front of other Jewish laws.
Rosh hashanah
Is the Jewish new year. On this day Jews believe they are judged by god.
Sheol
Jewish version of hell. They describe hell as a place where the soul gets cleansed.
Covenenant
A agreement the Jews made with god. It is marked by circumcision.
