What is a parable
A story with a deeper meaning
Why did Jesus use parables
Because: they were already a common method of teaching in Palestine, they are simple to remember and to pass on and people can interpret the parable for themselves
What does the Father, the younger son, wasting money and the Father’s forgiveness represent in the parable of the prodigal son
Father = God the father
Younger son = Us (humans)
Wasting money = Sinning
The Father’s forgiveness = God forgiving everything if we are truly sorry
What is the kingdom of God
God’s authority or rule (not a place)
What are kingdom values
Qualities that would be in the kingdom of God. Eg: peace, forgiveness or humility
In the Parable of the sower, what do all of the seeds falling in the different places represent
The seeds that fall on the path - people who hear the message but do not understand it
The seeds that fall on the weeds and thorn bushes - people who hear the message but a love for riches takes it
The seeds that fall on the rocky ground - people who recieve the message but does not sink deep into them
The seeds that fall in the good soil - people who hear the message, understand it and follow God’s way
In the parable of the mustard seed, what does the seed represent
