i now felt i had to choose
moral dilemma, doesn’t have to do what’s wrong, concious decision, he’s to blame- knows it so kills himself, consequences, honest-respect
appetites- going with jekyll he had to give up desires
cannot control, gets hungry again, recidivist tendencies, only so long until he felt it again
die to a thousand in streets and aspirations- go with hyde
his other option is to be be bored and unchallenged, science gives him challenge push beyond human limits, knowledge, aspiration is without limit, not end but beginning of science
old and commonplace as man
everyone can relate to conflict within and desires and ambition
i preferred the elderly and discontented doctor
paradox- had friends but his his true self, understanding- no thrill just boring
farewell to the liberty
breaking out of all bounds, freedom to do what he wants, not moral in society , but not he has to respectable and out facade on
leaping impulses and secret pleasures
hubris and arrogance, pulse- cannot control, unconscious instinct, he misses not having to control his urges,
evil finally destroyed the balance of my soul
syntax, hyde controls jekyll, victim, unbalanced power
great effort as of gymnastics… to wear the countable of jekyll
jekyll concously struggling because of hyde, trying to resist- sympathy, has to use potion, facade he ahs to put on, more natural to be hyde now
powers of hyde seem to have grown
force of its own - evil, disassociated with himself but is now evil which is within him and he cannot control, no accountability for this second half- wants to rid
knit to him- hyde
fused together as one, will never be inseparable, shows that this side is within us, cannot rid of hyde
lay caged in it’s flesh
animal, tries to control but is a part of him, flesh- will never die always be there subconsciously in his mind- led him to kill
he would play me
what’s its done to him, passive recipient, victim, within him- hence decision to kill bothh
