The term ape like fury links to Darwins theory of evolution, Hyde is the embodiment of de-evolution as he is able to have the audacity to achieve things that no human can, and on top the man he killed (carew) was a highly reputable man.

Hyde isn’t trampling over an enemy, rather he is trailing over a little girl thus exposing how his urges get stronger and more savage over time, the oxymoronic use of language also show how menacingly Hyde
