Drives the plot forward - Friendships can be ruined because of differences of opinion.

Jekyll wants to make everything seem like its normal.
Curiosity
Curiosity drives the characters to seek knowledge - the reader then solves the mystery with Mr Utterson.
Lies and Deceit
Secrecy and Deception is what drives the plot forward - Utterson is trying to find out Dr Jekyll’s actual identity .
