enfield doesnt know why he hates him so much and says ”I never saw a man I so disliked” they agree to never discuss it again

utterson studys the will and doesnt know why it all goes to hyde. he visits lanyon to ask why but lanyon hasnt spoken to jekyll as he has been up to “unscientific balderdash.” utterson has a nightmare about hyde and decides to try and find him, he finds him and sees his face. and hyde gives him his adress. utterson goes to jekyll again and finds out the building is his laboritory. jekyll isnt home but Poole tells Utterson that Hyde has a key to the laboratory and that all the servants have orders to obey Hyde.

Jekyll shows Utterson a letter and asks him what to do, its from Hyde utterson asks if hyde decided the terms of the will and jekyll says yes Utterson tells him that Hyde probably meant to murder him. utteron finds poole who tells him no mail had arrived. mr Guest compares Hyde’s letter with some of Jekyll’s writing and suggests that the same hand inscribed both utterson is shocked that jekyll would hyde a murderer

Utterson visits Lanyon, asking why Jekyll has refused any company. Lanyon is in very poor health, lanyon says he had a large shock and expects to die soon. utterson jekyll but Lanyon demands not to speak of him.he says utterson can know when he is dead. Utterson writes to Jekyll Soon Jekyll’s reply arrives saying he will speak to no one.
Lanyon dies utteerson takes the letter he was supposed to read but instead finds another letter telling him to read it until jekyll is also dead.

poole comes to utterson begging him to quickly come top jekyll. he arrives and finds the servents all gathered in one room. they go to the laboritory and jekyll responds to them in a voice that isnt his own refusing any visitors. poole explains to utterson that he believes hyde to be in there. and says he has been requesting lots of drugs. utterson decides to break inro the laboritory and find hyde. once they get tyhrough the door they find hydes dead body. theres a letter adressed to utterson.
