Q

Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution

A

Charles Darwin came up with the idea that we evolved from apes and that we are distant ancestors of them. This profoundly challenged religion at the time as they strongly opposed of it so being compared to one of them was a huge insult. It was a new scientific discovery which was obviously against traditional religious beliefs ( Like god designing human beings). It can also suggest why people were so repulsed by seeing him as they could recognise distant ancestors within themselves and his primitive looks manifested it
