Identity of Jasper Jones
A
- moulded by the hands of many abusive authoritative figures and bullies.
- has constant negativity aimed at him, and is trapped within a false sense of identity laid onto him by society.
- He has a low socio-economic status and therefore is scapegoat, evident by the townspeople when there is a crime and his name is always mentioned first,
- Being aboriginal, he has a unchangeable ethnic identity which unfairly puts a burden on his shoulders due to the racism in the town, ( acceptable at the time)
- Jasper has had to grow up w/ no parents, as his father was a drunkard and mother had passed away.
- He has had to grow up primarily on his own, which is why we understand that his identity differs from others so much.

A
- Him and his family were minorities in the town.
- Jeffrey’s cultural identity is a blend of vietnamese and Australian ( evident through cricket)
- A bridge between two nations
- He is often shown to be speaking about cricket which shows he has incorporated the Australian culture in him, yet he is still treated badly
- Speech patterns witty, incorporating Australian slang
” He is so compact and powerful. Despite being the size of a garden gnome” the juxtapositioning of the words compact and powerful describe his personality.
