Q

What is a constructive margin

A

Warm air rises causing the plates to move away from each other (convection currents) = a shield volcano

The magma is very fast moving and spreads quickly.

Q

Conservative margin

A

1) convection currents push the plates past each other
2) Pressure builds from the convection currents
3) The plates slip causing an earthquake

Q

Destructive margin

A

Happens between oceanic plate and continental plate.

Convection currents push oceanic plate below continental plate causing a composite volcano.
A magma chamber builds up then explodes

E.g.Mount Fuji

Q

Collision Plate boundary

A

1) Convention currents push plates together
2) Plates collide
3) Sediment is pushed upwards
4) Land crinkles to form fold mountains

E.g. Himalayas
