Jamestown wasn’t successful in its first three years because it didn’t make any money and majority of its population died.

The major issues that led to the starving time in Jamestown was John Smiths departure from the colony because he needed to tend to his injuries, Native Americans stop sharing food, disease, weak harvest for winter, and poor drinking water.
What did John Smith implement to help make Jamestown more successful? Why did he have to return to England?
John Smith implemented the rule that those who do not work shall not eat. This boosted agricultural repairs and strengthened defense. John Smith had to return to England because he had to go tend to his burn injuries.
