James Is AWESOME! Flashcards
Motion
When an object is in motion, you can describe the direction of its motion with a reference direction, such as North,East,South,West,or up and down.
Speed
the rate at which an object moves.
Velocity
The speed of an object in a particular direction.
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes.
Force
A push or a pull.
Newton
Unit to express force.
Net force
Combining all the forces exerted on an object.
Friction
Force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching.
Gravity
Force of attraction between objects due to their masses.
Weight
Measure of the gravitational force exerted on an object.
Mass
The amount of mass in an object
Fluid friction
Sliding friction between your feet and the floor.
Static friction
When a force is applied to an object but does not cause the object to move.
Sliding friction
If you push and eraser across a desk it will move a little ways then stop.
Rolling friction
The friction between the wheels and the floor.
