Brought up in Presbyterian home and found out that biblical allusions brought up together the opposing ideas of good vs evil
Easily understood those who would make the references to biblical allusions
Cain and Abel
Chapter 1: “incline to Cain’s heresy” and that “he lets his brother go to the devil”
Jekyll (good) must kill Hyde (bad). But ironically, the evil brother kills his good brother. Hyde wants to take over Jekyll’s body.
Satanic references
“Satan’s signature upon a face” - embodiment of evil and sin
Jagannath (juggernaut)
A Hindu god - a heavy wooden model pulled by hundreds of volunteers.
Damon and Pythias
“Unscientific balderdash” then “would of etranged Damon and Pythias”
- Damon’s requesting time to settle his affairs, rejected. Pythias pleaded him but if failed to return, he dies. Damon returned and both received great loyalty.

‘Hitman’ - jekyll uses Hyde to indulge his pleasures
