A convergence of the common iliac veins

Spine, crus of diaphragm, rt psoas muscle, rt renal artery, rt adrenal gland

Pancreas head, transverse duodenum, portal vein, CBD, posterior surface of liver, hepatic veins
What is superior to the IVC?
Nothing
What is inferior to the IVC?
Diaphragm
What is medial to the IVC?
Rt renal vein, rt ureter, rt adrenal gland, rt kidney
What is right lateral to the IVC?
Lt renal vein, aorta, caudate lobe of liver
How many sections does the IVC have? And what are they?
4 sections
Hepatic section, suprarenal section, renal section and postrenal section
What section is found directly posterior to the liver?
Hepatic section
Where is the prerenal section?
Extends from just inferior to the hepatic vein to slightly superior to the renal veins
What is the most inferiorly located section of the IVC?
Renal section
