Tx for phlebitis
Removal of catheter
Warm compress
Restart catheter in opposite extremity
Tx for thrombosis at IV site
Remove catheter
COLD compress
Elevate extremity
Tx for bloodstream infection due to IV
Remove, replace entire system.
Notify physician
Obtain blood, catheter cultures
Tx for catheter embolism
Apply tourniquet above insertion site
Remove remaining catheter
Notify physician
