how would you assess fluid balance

comorbidities - heart or renal failure, portal hypotension or ascites

for fluid resus in normal adult no comorbidities for fluid overload ( heart /renal/liver failure elderly of frail) what do you give
500ml 0.9% saline STAT
fluid resus in patient with comorbidities who is frail or tiny would is preferred
a saline 250ml bolus is preferred
what comes in major H protocol
pack A - 4 units of blood, 4 units of FFP
pack B - 4 units blood, 4 units FFP and bag of platelets
what do you need to do if a paient is bleeding out and you need to give blood
take crossmatch prior to starting blood
it is always best to make patient get fluid how
by encouraging oral intake
why should you never give potassium faster than 100mmol/h on a ward
risk of arrhythmias if given faster
if a pt is on IV fluids what do we need to monitor and how do we decide to change the fluids ?
check fluid balance charts
look at weights if on porlonged use
check UandE daily
