-Occurs when fluid leaks out of the vein and into surrounding soft tissue

A
- Inflammation
- Tightness of the skin
- Pain at IV site
- COOL SKIN

A
- Elevate sight to decrease swelling
- Apply warm/cool compress

What are the symptoms of an allergic reaction?
A
- Skin reaction (hives/pale)
- Low BP
- Constriction of airway
- Weak/rapid pulse

What is the treatment of an allergic reaction?
A
- Adrenaline
- Cortisone (decrease inflammation in the air passage)
