They opposed war.
They believed it was a capitalist plot to make profit and to weaken the working classes.
In the early months of war, they were beaten and attacked, and some were prosecuted on various pretexts.

There was the first anti-war demonstration held in Glasgow green.
Aim was to demand armistice, protesting at the rising food prices and calling for gov distribution of food.

A

Because of his anti - war stance.
He was arrested and handed over to the military authorities. There was public outcry forced his release to the civil authorities.
