A form of identity which can be obtained by descent, marriage or naturalization. it is the rights given to citizens and the responsibilities expected of them. these rights are protected by the law.
Ex:
Access to public education. citizens enjoys certain rights in the area of education. In Singapore, it states that no citizens will be discriminated against on the ground of religion, race, descent, place of birth or financial status when it comes to the access and financial aid for education of pupils or students in any educational system. The government subsidies to cheap but quality education. All able body male must serve National Service as their responsibility.
A:
this leads to stronger sense of loyalty because there are better opportunities for citizens and they do not need to make compromises because of financial status, making it fair for everyone

sense of identity is the shared belief that we belong to a country
Ex:
there are two aspects to sense of identity:
1) common practices and common way of life. common practices include singing the national anthem and reciting the national pledge every morning.
2) common way of life includes living in HDBs, speaking singlish , local food and culture and common spaces such as meeting at void decks and playgrounds “
A:
common practices will lead to a stronger sense of belonging, while common way of life includes colloquial which is used during conversations ( the use of singlish). as these are common practices of Singaporeans, it strengthens communication among citizens which leads to a stronger sense of citizenship

participation in public affairs is to be involved in decision making for the society, contribution to the society, to make the society a better place to live in
Ex:
some examples of participation in public affairs are:
1) Participating in the Our Singapore Conversation by Singaporeans to give their views and suggestions on what matters to Singapore.
2) volunteering, participating in group activities and community gardening. activities that benefits either group members or the society”
A:
the outcomes that leads to stronger sense of citizenship is to create bonds among Singaporeans and to make them have a sense of belonging / Sense of ownership / increase the sense of commitment to the society

prime minister lee kuan yew put in place policies that improved our economy and housing for the people. his capability allowed singapore to prosper and singaporeans have better lives. Helped Singapore progress from a third world country to a first world country.

good leadership ensure that the best decisions are made for singapore’s continued growth and development. it also ensures that different needs, interests and priorities of the society are addressed.
They can win the confidence of the people, leading to political stability.”

Ex:
Reward students for their hard work through edusave scholarship and edusave merit bursary award

fair opportunities for everyone to succeed. Help Singapore build a pool of talents. This will give Singapore a more competitive edge over other countires. This will help Singapore do well and prosper.

building of integrated resorts IRs so that Singapore con compete with neighbouring countries for tourists.

This will help Singapore stay ahead of other countries as we implement forward looking policies to help the country progress.

Our Singapore Conversation (OSC) it is set up by the govt so that Singaporeans can post feedback online. Govt will then know about sgns feedbacks and concerns in society so govt can make changes like improving the policy to improve the lives of sgns

implementing legalization that protects the rights of citizens.
Ex:
1) WorkRight Initiative - help both employees and employers understand their rights and responsibilities respectively. This will create awareness towards employment rights.
2) CPF - compulsory savings from the salary of working Singaporeans. They can use it to pay for their medical bills, buy houses etc. They can start withdrawing after they retired.
A:
1) that employers do not abuse their employees, and providing a sense of security to the workers, even at an old age.
2) sense of security during old age which leads to better quality of life which leads to the good of society

The government devotes significant resources to improve the well-being of Singaporeans. Citizens can enjoy the benefits from the provision of the goods and services for the public.
Ex:
Singapore provides cheap and affordable public transport to all Singaporean. It has developed into a people-centered public transport system that has many more connections and better services compared to other countries. A few of the MRT lines even run across the country, such as the North-South line.

Ex:
An informal group was set up by Mr Jeremy Chua during the haze period in June 2013.
He set up a Facebook page called ‘SG Haze Rescue’ and asked people to donate their excess masks to be given out to other SGs who are in need such as the elderly or less privileged individuals. Many Singaporeans donate and some offered their help to distribute the masks. In doing so, he contributed toward the efforts that ensure SGs remain healthy during the haze period.”
A:
As citizens participate more actively in shaping outcomes in society, they become more conscious of how they complement government actions and their sense of belonging will increase as they will feel they have a role to play in the development of the country.

Citizens can contribute towards the good of society in many ways such as influencing government policies through platforms such as online and offline communication channels.
They can also improve outcomes in society by addressing the needs of their fellow citizens or by responding to issues and challenges that they care about.
Ex:
started by Ms Eliza Ng who believes firmly in not living in a dirty country, in 2013 to encourage citizens to go the extra mile and pick up a piece of litter per day. Due to the easiness of the project, many commend her and have expressed their interest in joining her to do the actions as well as spread the positive message so that even more people can help in the initiative.
These efforts help to raise awareness. Hence, more people are motivated to keep the society clean
