The image sensor is more sensitive and has to work harder, producing more noise.
What is digital noise?
Any light signal that does not originate from the subject, therefore creating random color in an image.
To reduce motion blur by increasing shutter speed, would you increase or decrease the ISO rating?
Increase. Higher ISO plus faster shutter speed eliminates motion blur.
How would you adjust the ISO rating to creatively utilize motion blur?
Reduce the ISO and shutter speed.
What does the size of the camera’s image sensor determine?
It dictates what ISO setting provides the least amount of noise.

Why do smaller image sensors produce more digital noise at higher ISOs?
Small sensors plus high pixel count means more pixels are being packed into a smaller area, producing more grain.
How large is a full frame sensor and what are its benefits?
35mm, allows for more pixels to be packed on the sensor, allowing for smoother images at higher ISOs.
How do the larger pixels on full frame sensors work?
They are more sensitive to light, so the energy used to mimic higher ISOs doesn’t create as much noise.
What are the cons of increasing the ISO rating?
Reduces fine details, when the image is enlarged, printed, or saved as JPEG, the high noise results in a muddier image.
