Who is Allah
Allah is God, the creator, who will one day judge people. The one true God. They should not worship false gods.
why did they leave Meccah, where did they go, what happend there?
There was an assasination attempt, so Muhammad and followers left Meccah and went to Medina and established the first Muslim community.
what are the five pillars of Islam and what are they?
Shahadah – Declaration of Faith
Salah – Daily Prayer
Zakah – Welfare or Charity
Sawm - Fasting and spiritual discipline
Hajj - Pilgrimage
Shahadah
declaration of faith. Muslims need to say this - “I bear witness that there is no God except for Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh) is the
messenger of God.”
Salah
Daily prayer - 5 times per day, face toward Mecca, use prayer mat if not in mosque
Zakah
Welfare or charity - Muslims must give some of
their money to charity.
This is considered a duty for
every Muslim who can afford
it.
The amount suggested is 2.5%
of their wealth
Sawm
Fasting - Muslims fast everyday during the month of
Ramadan
They do not eat or drink anything during the day
This is to help them think of those who are
less fortunate
Hajj
Pilgrimage - Muslims try to go to Makkah in their life at
least once.
This is the Holiest place for Muslims and all
who are physically able must try to visit.
what Qur’an?
The sacred text of Islam, it is the Holy book for Muslims. It is the words of Allah exactly as the Angel Jibril revealed it to Muhammad
