What is Shahada?
The declaration of the Muslim faith:
There is only one God, Allah and Mohammad is his messenger
What is Salah?
It is praying five times a day
What is Zakah?
It is donating 2.5% of the money left at the end of year to charity
What is Sawm?
All Muslims are expected to fast during the month of Ramadan
What is Hajj?
It is the Pilgrimage to Mecca
During Hajj what do Muslims wear and why?
During Hajj Muslims wear white seamless cloth. It is to show they are all equal.
List some of the things Muslims do within the pilgrimage to Mecca.
- spend a day at mount Arafat.
- collect stones from Muzdahlifa.
- Stone Satan.
- spend a day praying.
- walk counter clockwise around the Kah’ba.
What is the Kah’ba?
The black box in the middle of Mecca.
What is the wash before starting prayer called?
Wudu
What is the series of movements during prayer called?

It is called Rak’ah
• Ruku: bowing
•Quiyam: standing
•Sujud: Bowing and touching your head on the floor
•Jalsa: kneeling
•Salam: ‘Peace’ marks the end of the prayer
• Du’a: asking for forgiveness and blessings (can be said in any language)

Compass: to know where Mecca is.
Scarf and prayer caps : for women and men.
Prayer beads: it has 99 beads to represent the 99 names of Allah.

The Dome: symbolises the universe, projects sound.
The Minaret: a tall tower used by men to call to Allah.
The Minrab: they face the Minrab to know they are facing Mecca.
The Madrassah: it is where children and adults can go to learn
What is the Muslims holy book and why is it important to Muslims ?
It is the Qur’an
It is important to Muslims because it contains the word(s) of God ( Allah )

It is Mohammad’s teachings.
