• it included countries like egypt, persia and arabia.
why was islamic medicine advanced?
• medical learning was encouraged because muhammad had said ‘for every disease, allah has given a cure’
• because the development of medicine was encouraged, the understanding of science was encouraged as well
how did caliphs help with the progression of islamic medicine?
• medical manuscripts were translated from greek to arabic
• many ancient books were preserved in a library, the dark ages meant that the books were not available in western europe
• the library became a place of learning for scholars and was deemed ‘the house of wisdom’
