Islamic Attitudes to Infertility Treatment Flashcards
+Allah’s gift
‘There is no disease that Allah has sent down, except that He also sent down his treatment.’
+Example of the Prophet Muhammed
A couple should be able to raise a family like the prophet Muhammad did. Important thing for Muslims to go through.
+Soul/not abortion
Soul doesn’t enter the fetus for 120 day so IVF is okay.
+Allah’s plan
God gave is the gift of knowledge so we could do the most loving thing with that. If, for example, IVF didn’t work, only then would it mean a child is not part of Allah’s plan.
-Allah’s will
If you cannot conceive this is Allah’s will. ‘He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills (females) and He gives to whom He wills males.’
-Other parties
Zina = adultery. Big sin.
-Test from Allah
Infertility is a test from Allah. Maybe your path in life is something else. Part of His plan.
-Surrogacy is wrong
Children have the right to know their natural parents, violates marriage contract —there should be no third person, the child can only inherit from their biological parents, the woman who gives birth to the child is considered the mother.
