What is the Qur’an and what is the Sunnah
The Qur’an is the holy book for Muslims and the Sunnah is the example Muhammad set for the Muslims to follow
What was an advancement made by the Muslims in geography and navigation?
The Muslims used irrigation to get water and made maps. They also made the astrolabe to keep track of time and a compass to provide directions
What are the 5 Pillars of Islam and what is one thing about each one?
Shahadah: The declaration of faith-There is no God but God-shows that there is only belief in one God
Salat: The daily ritual prayer that focuses on the closeness to God
Zakat: Charity and sharing wealth with the poor
Siyam: Fasting
Hajj: The pilgrimage to Makkah that people make at least once in their life.
Jihad: The internal conflict to please God
Shari’ah: Islamic Law
How did Muhammad become God’s Messenger?
He became God’s Messenger when he was meditating in a cave in Makkah, and the angel Gabriel came down and told him the he would be God’s Messenger.
What is Makkah?
Makkah was crossroad of trade. Merchants would travel there to trade and to pray at the Ka’bah when it was still polotheistic. It is where Muhammad recieved a calling from God. It is now a center of the Muslim faith and Muslims travel there during the Hajj to walk around the Ka’bah 7 times

mathematics?
Khwarizmi’s books helped develop fractions and decimals and used Algebra to explore the unknown
Who was Muhammad?
He was a prophet from God who taught the faith of Islam.
What are some differences and similarities of the Christian and Muslim faith?
Some similarities are that they both have a holy book and they both are monotheistic. Some differences are that the Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God, but Muslims do not. They both have different worship ceremonies, and they have different places of worship; Christians have a church and Muslim’s have a mosque

The Muslims built mosques and made intricate designs an geometric shapes on buildings and artwork

What is the Hajj?
The Hajj is the holy month, or the pilgrimage to Makkah. Four rituals that are practiced during this month are wearing all white, walking around the Ka’bah 7 times, going on a pilgrimage to Makkah once in your life, and preforming the water ritual between the two mountains
What was the original meaning of Jihad?
The original meaning of Jihad was an internal conflict within Muslims as they strive to please their God. It was used to promote kindness in Muslims
What was an advancement made by the Muslims in scholarship?
Muslims used reason and logic to prove truths. They built colleges, schools, libraries, and research centers. They accepted the Arabic language and learning was greatly valued

Muslims made hospitals to teach doctors, made medicine (learned how to put people to sleep) did surgery (used animal guts to stitch wounds) and explored disease (Al-Razi realized that diseases were caused by bacteria

Baghad was the captial of the Islamic Empire. It was a major crossroad of trade and the whole city was round.
At the center of Baghad, there was the palace and the mosque. 100,00 people built the city of Baghad.
