-transcendent=god created the universe so is outside it. He is not limited by the physical world
-immanent=god is present everywhere and is within all things
-beneficent=all loving
-fair and just=god treats everyone fairly-shia muslims in particular
-merciful=good cares for people and understands suffering. He forgives everyone who is truly sorry
-omnipotent=all powerfull. God is aware of everything
how can god be transcendent and immanent
because although he created the universe (so is outside it) he is also within all things and able to act within it.

-constantly serve and praise god
-are able to take human form to pass on messages to people
-have no free will so can only do what god wants them to do

Barzakh:
-means ‘barrier’
-the stage where they wait until the day of judgement
-people are u able to come back across the barrier
-while waiting god sends 2 angles to question them about their faith
The day of judgment:
-when gods purpose for the universe has been fulfilled the world will be destroyed.
-eveyone who has ever loved will be raised from the dead (resurrected)
-eveyone will be given their own ‘book of deeds’, if placed in right hand=heaven, left hand=hell
Heaven and hell:
-people who have kept their faith in god and done good deeds will be rewarded with paradise
-heaven=state of eternal happiness
-people who have rejected god and done bad things will be punished with hell
-he’ll=place of fire and torment, separated from god

-encourages muslims to take responsibility for their actions because god will hold them accountable
-this motivates muslims to follow the teachings of the quran and dedicate their life to god
-gives hope to muslims who suffer-they have something better to look forward to

why is Muhammad so important?
-He is ‘gods messenger’

-remebered for helping establish the religion by conquering makkah
-traveled to heaven where he was in the presence of god
how did the revelation of the quaran happen
-Muhammad grew up in Mecca where he would visit a cave to pray
-One day when muhammad was visiting the cave he experienced a revelation from the angel jibrhil
-over the next 22years these revelations continued
-these formed the quran
how did muhammad conquer Makkah
-after the first revelation from jibril muhammad starting challenging people in Makkah to follow these teachings
-muhammad was persecuted for his preaching and fled to Madinah with his followers
-In Madinah he united tribes and conquered Makkah
-This helped bring harmony to the religious and firmly established it
