Many Protestants at the time advocated to keep Ireland as part of the UK and often supported the Unionist party
Positive Perception
Irish Protestants received a warmer welcome to Scotland than other religious groups because of their shared religion
Employability
Many Scottish businesses wanted Irish workers but only protestant workers e.g. most shipyards only hired protestants
