IR Flashcards
Describe Seldinger technique needle
Compare and contrast seldinger vs modified seldinger technique
Compare guide wires
Hydrophilic - placement of devices , stays wet longer
Amplatz - stiff
Roadrunner - longer
Compare catheters
Non - selective:
Pigtail - large end hole multiple side holes - large vessels > 15 mm diameter
Straight- also many holes- vessel too small for pigtail but good flow needed eg. Iliac arteries
Selective:
Cobra - visceral and peripheral angiography - C1-C3
Headhunter - forward facing curve with and without side holes - head vessels
Sidewinder - visceral angiography - S1-S3- formed with aortic turn in arch
Mane - Used for tortuous vessels of neck - mainly left side
What are the purpose of vascular introducer sheaths
Provide a less traumatic arterial or venous access route - good when more than 1 catheter needed, balloon angioplasty
Consists of - sheath, dilator and hub, sidearm for flushing, 3 way tap
Aero flex - reinforced sheath
